Participants on VAC’s Improving Lives Course have been out and about in Coventry, with our team finding out about how volunteering can support them, as well as their local community. From increasing your wellbeing and confidence, to developing your employability skills, a voluntary role can open so many doors.

Over the last few weeks we’ve been connecting with Watch charity in Hillfields and learning about broadcast radio opportunities at HillzFM. We spent time visiting the CROW recycling centre, learning about their volunteer roles and got green fingered at their community garden. Friends of Spencer Park toured us around the spaces they care for including their volunteer run Pavilion cafe.  And we put it all into context with some lively skills-busting sessions in the class room.A big thank you to all the VCSEs who made us feel so welcome!

Participants on the course find these group visits to community organisations really beneficial. It’s a chance to meet Volunteer Officers, talk to people who already volunteer and often they get to try a taster volunteering session. We support participants throughout the duration of the visit, and bus fares are re-imbursed so that no-one misses out.
