Get involved – business lends a hand

CC litterpick – steps

It’s really easy for businesses to use ‘Get Involved Coventry’, VAC’s community engagement platform, to identify how you or your company can get involved and do a good deed to help out in the city.

Recently Georgia Petch (Social Value Lead) from GEDA Construction  did just that. Via the platform, Georgia was connected to the Chat Central project to lend a hand on the monthly litter picking activity.

Chat Central organises litter picking sessions primarily as group volunteering activities for project participants, many of whom maybe new to the city or haven’t been out and about for a while.  It’s a chance to bring together people to chat and connect, take a stroll through the city and clear litter along the way whilst doing something good for the city. We were delighted when Georgia reached out to join in the mission.

She said:

“GEDA is committed to delivering more than construction. We strive to create lasting social impact, support inclusive growth, and strengthen the communities we serve – project by project. Taking part in the Chat Central Litter Pick with Voluntary Action Coventry was a brilliant opportunity to give back, protect the local environment, and connect with community members.

The work Voluntary Action Coventry does to bring people together and champion positive change is inspiring and today showed how powerful collaboration can be. We’re proud to play a part and would encourage other organisations to get involved and experience the same sense of purpose and partnership.”

Georgia then used the platform to set up more volunteering opportunities, supporting a Free School Uniform pop up, with local charity Clothing Coventry day one saw her transporting clothing from the warehouse to the pop up event and day two saw her distributing school shirts to families.

Whether you’re looking to arrange a corporate volunteering day or simply a one off for ESV supported programmes, you can browse current call-outs for help on-line and via the platform get in touch directly with the charity that needs you. It’s quick and simple, specific for Coventry and free to use.
