Since 1st April 2010 Coventry has increased its number of stop smoking service providers from one to seven. Organisations such as More Active Living for Health and the Coventry Irish Society are now providing a service and are paid on the tariff scheme for 4 week and 12 week quitters. Higher payment is made for pregnant women and hard to reach groups e.g. young people, black and minority ethnic groups, routine and manual workers.

Providers offer behavioural support in a variety of formats such as one to one, drop in, group and telephone support. Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) can be provided using a pharmacy voucher scheme.

The number of chronic disease self management programme providers have increased from one to five. Organisations such as Coventry Mind and the Coventry Irish Society are providing a service and receive payment once a person completes a 6 week programme. Higher payment is made for hard to reach groups e.g. ethnic minorities, people living in deprived areas, young people.

If you want to become a provider of either of these services you can during the second procurement round which starts this month. If you are successful in the accreditation process you can begin providing a service from October 2010. Please attend one of the two regional events detailed below where you can find out more information. Directions can be found on the websites and maps are attached. There is no registration required; simply turn up at the most suitable event for you.
