V release evaluation report of the impact of the project nationally

Voluntary Action Coventry worked with v to lead on the vinvolved project in Coventry. This was a 3 year project aimed at introducing and encouraging 16-25 year olds into volunteering which came to an end at the end of March 2011.

V have recently released the following evaluation report of the impact of the project nationally:

V releases formative evaluation findings

An independent formative, evaluation of v nationally has shown that its projects have made wide-ranging positive impacts on the social engagement, career prospects and self confidence of the young people it has worked with.

In addition, v was able to demonstrate a significant social return on investment for youth volunteering. A cost benefit analysis revealed that every £1 spent on volunteering would result in a benefit of at least £5.8.

Equally, the report has revealed that v's projects have engaged a diverse range of people, many of whom are at risk of social exclusion. Fifty-one per cent of v's volunteers had a low income, and 13% of volunteers had a disability. The young people working with v also reflected the ethnic mix of the population. This is in positive contrast to the Citizenship Survey, which indicates that most volunteers come from affluent white backgrounds.
