Updated guidance on Vetting and Barring Scheme available

An updated document containing details on the scope of the Scheme; barring arrangements; responsibilities and duties for both employers and volunteer coordinators, and the duties for those individuals you take on and timescales for the phased implementation of the Scheme.

The guidance released by the Independent Safeguarding Authority refers to areas where the Scheme does not apply and discusses the points raised by Sir Roger Singleton when he reported on the boundaries of the Scheme in December 2009.

This full guidance will be followed by sector specific guidance documents, which will show how the Scheme will be applied in different areas of work and volunteering activities. This will be published by the appropriate government departments.

Printed copies of the full guidance document will be available on request from the contact centre on 0300 123 1111 after 5 April.
