Switch It Off Week, 9-13 November 2009
Switch it Off is an energy saving campaign covering Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Its aim is simple - to show the saving that can be achieved when a lot of people turn off unwanted lights and electrical appliances that have been left on standby.
This year, the Coventry Partnership encourages everyone in Coventry to get behind the Switch it Off campaign to show how easy it is to save money on electricity as well as reduce our carbon footprints.
This year's event will run from 9 - 13 November, culminating with the Big Switch Off scheduled for Friday 13 November between 4.30pm - 6.30pm. For these five days we will be encouraging everyone whether they are at home, at work or at school to turn off all unnecessary lighting and electrical appliances that have been left on stand-by. For more information about what is happening during the week and how you can get involved please visit www.coventrypartnership.com/switchitoff
To mark the Big Switch Off and take it further than just energy saving, the Coventry Partnership will be putting on a free public screening of the climate change blockbuster, 'The Age of Stupid' from the director of 'McLibel' and the producer of the Oscar-winning 'One day in September' in the Coventry Cathedral. You won't see a more important film this year, so don't miss your chance to be part of this prolific event by watching it in the city's most famous building!
