VAC provides a strategic bridge and support between the statutory and voluntary sectors across a range of public service areas, including health & social care, children’s services, community safety, and skills & employment. Through our targeted Voluntary Sector Networks, we engage a wide range of voluntary and community organisations with the latest developments in these areas, and we provide opportunities for voluntary and community organisations to play a greater role in tackling these issues, including helping to publicise and showcase their services. VAC champions the broader interests and role of the voluntary sector on a number of strategic Boards, such as the Health & Well-being Board, the Police, Crime & Community Safety Board and the Children’s Services Improvement Board. We use these connections to look for new opportunities to build the voluntary sector’s contribution to joint working.

VAC also uses Innovation Awards to promote the contribution of voluntary organisations, and we promote best practice in joint working between voluntary, community and statutory organisations through the Coventry Compact with a range of codes of good practice.
