Operation “Rogue Traders Ruin Lives” - Trading Standards Need Your Help

Rogue Traders is the term we use to describe bogus workmen who will often travel the length and breadth of the Country, and cold call elderly and vulnerable people under the pretext of carrying out property repairs. The work, if any is carried out, is often unnecessary, of poor quality and the elderly person is usually charged an extortionate sum, sometimes all of their life savings. There is clear evidence that such rogue traders have links with the perpetrators of distraction burglary and many elderly people who fall victim of rogue trading later become victims of bogus officials from the "water board" or the "council" etc.

Any information, however small, that you think may be relevant to the activities of Rogue Traders would be gratefully received in order that they can disrupt their activities. Details of individuals, types of transport, vehicle registrations, likely destination and type of activity can be passed to us in confidence using the number on the poster - 024 7683 2292 or alternatively you can e-mail trading.standards@coventry.gov.uk, with information.
