Festive Favours - “Give the Gift of Time”
December is the season of goodwill and a time when people are often more receptive to helping others. Last year a new trend started - people donated money to loved ones favourite charities rather than buying gifts. This year, with the credit crunch and youth unemployment at record levels, young people may find it increasingly difficult to pay for gifts or donate money again.
Ensure your Annual Report meets legal requirements
Formats for Annual Reports were covered at VAC's AGM training course on 30 June, and delegates suggested that this information be circulated more widely. Charity annual reports must meet requirements set down by the Charity Commission, whilst limited companies must follow Companies House requirements. Charitable companies (such as Voluntary Action Coventry) must follow both.
Does your organisation help inform, consult and involve local people in decision-making?
Coventry Partnership has been developing a framework to give greater consistency between different organisations when they inform, consult or involve local people in decision-making. Rightly or wrongly, consultation is often dismissed as a ‘tick-box' exercise with little effect on final decisions but this can lead to some really good work being missed.
