Festive Favours - “Give the Gift of Time”

December is the season of goodwill and a time when people are often more receptive to helping others. Last year a new trend started - people donated money to loved ones favourite charities rather than buying gifts. This year, with the credit crunch and youth unemployment at record levels, young people may find it increasingly difficult to pay for gifts or donate money again.

New Year, new start is the theme for this campaign. The New Year is traditionally a time for people to make a fresh start, change of career, new years resolutions... The vinvolved team are keen to use this time of year as an opportunity to promote volunteering as an opportunity and provide an exciting quarter of activity for young people.

Volunteer Rights Inquiry calls for evidence

The Panel will consider the scope and scale of the issues that face volunteers as reports of serious incidents have threatened to undermine the goodwill and altruism that motivates volunteers.

Sukhvinder Kaur-Stubbs, Chair of the Volunteer Rights Inquiry Panel, said "The panel agreed that volunteering should be maintained as an activity distinct from paid employment.
