The Real Junk Food Project

A black tie dinner at the Village Hotel Coventry to help raise money

Hi! My name is Katie Read and I am half of The Real Junk Food Project Coventry.

Food Waste and Food Poverty are two major tragedies that we are currently facing as a community and as a nation. We aim to bridge that gap. We divert perfectly edible food destined for waste and use it to create delicious and healthy meals for anyone and everyone in our Community Café run from Foleshill Baptist Church, every Friday and on a Monday at Foleshill Families for all Hub, feeding children and their families after school.

We receive no funding or support and are totally reliant on the donations given by those who use our café. Therefore I have decided, as it is my silver wedding anniversary in June, to use this as an opportunity to hold a black tie dinner at the Village Hotel Coventry to raise money for the project. It is to be held on Friday 6th September and will include a three course meal, live music and an auction and raffle. Tickets are £30 a head with tables of 10.

We also really need prizes for the auction and raffle so we can raise as much money as possible for this amazing project.

Many thanks, Katie Read.
