  • The annual Trustee Conference, on 5th November 2018 in London, presented in partnership with charity law specialists BWB. In light of increased scrutiny on charities and their governance, this year’s conference focuses on key principles of good governance and how to embed these in an organisation.
  • Nominations are open for the Winifred Tumim Memorial Prize for best practice in charity governance. Entrants must demonstrate how they have improved the effectiveness of their governance and delivered greater public benefit as a charity in line with the Charity Governance Code. All shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend the NCVO/BWB Trustee Conference free of charge where the winners will be announced at the evening drinks reception. The first prize is £1,000 cash. Deadline for submissions is 7 September.
  • The Association of Chairs’ Beacon Programme is offering expert events and free resources designed specifically to support Chairs and Vice Chairs of smaller charities to do their role effectively. Online resources are free, and events around the UK are highly subsidised by a BIG Lottery grant.
