More Information about Coventry Local Involvement Network

Local Involvement Networks (LINks) have been set up around England by the government. There is one for every local authority area with a social services responsibility. Government funding reaches LINks via local authorities. They held tendering rounds to find Host organisations to support each LINk.

The aims of the Local involvement Network are to:

  • Ask local people what they think about health and social care and provide an opportunity to suggest ideas to help improve services
  • Enable people to work with public bodies to develop new services
  • Monitor and check the delivery of health and social care services
  • Enter and view premises delivering health and social care where and when appropriate

A key principle is to add value to what is already in place, rather than compete with it or duplicate. The LINk will give an opportunity for a wide variety of different user representatives to come together to support each other and share their knowledge and expertise. It will also enable individual people who will not have had a route to give their views before to do so and will reach out to communities.

Coventry LINk's ongoing priorities will be shaped by LINk members themselves.

Role of the Host organisation

Voluntary Action Coventry was successful in a competitive tendering round for the role of the Host organisation for the Coventry Local Involvement Network (LINk). The role of Host organisation is to support the development and running of the LINk.
