Migration Impact Fund

The Migration Impact Fund was launched by the Government in April 2009. The Government aims to raise the fund from a levy on economic Migrants and foreign students.

The fund has been made available to Local Strategic Partnerships (in our case the Coventry Partnership) to promote innovate ways of managing the transitional impact of Migration on local services

Voluntary Action Coventry is the accountable body for managing the Migration Impact Fund on behalf of the Coventry Partnership with the aim to alleviate pressure on services.

The project through partnership working with other services and organisations, such as Coventry Ethnic Minorities Partnership, New Communities Forum, West Midlands Fire Service, Police, Housing, Primary Care Trust and the Friends Programme will deliver the following projects:

  • Community Based Champions
  • Issue Based Workshops
  • Cohesion Seminars

Art Exhibition- Portraying life in Coventry

As part of the Migration Impact Fund, Voluntary Action Coventry in partnership with Coventry Peace House is organising an Art Exhibition to take place during Refugee Week 2010 at Glasshouse Exhibition Hall, Earl Street, Coventry. The exhibition will be launched on Monday 14th June 2010 at 12.00 noon and it will run until Friday 18th June.

This is an excellent opportunity for members of Migrant and New Communities to share their experiences of living in Coventry through art.

This exhibition aims to foster harmony by identifying the contribution of New Communities to the cultural diversity of the City and adds new flavours to the existing art culture.
