Largest Community Information Fair a huge success
The Community Information Fair was organised by Voluntary Action Coventry as part of the 2010 Positive Images Multicultural Festival. The event took place on Friday 18th June 2010 with 35 voluntary and community organisations taking part. This years' event was the largest on record with 50% extra stalls available to voluntary and community groups. 20 stalls were located in Smithford Way and 10 stalls in the new location of Market Way.
The majority of stalls attracted between 20-70 people, an increase on last year, and two organisations attracted more than 90 people. The visitors to the stalls were generally aged between 16 and 64 years old with an even mix of males and females and a great mix of ethnicities.
The weather probably played a part in the increase in visitors as it was sunny up until midday when it started to cloud over and then started to rain around 2.00pm. This led to most stall holders packing away early as there was no let up on the rain and so the event came to a close between 3.00 and 3.30pm.
Additional comments given by stall holders included:
‘We had a very good day and wish to participate next year. It was a great experience.'
‘Good networking opportunity. Look forward to next year.'
‘Very positive to promote our services.'
Overall the event was a success with the majority of stall holders happy with the outcomes of the day.
Stalls get booked up very quickly so if you are interested in participating next year please register your interest with Marian McGowan on 024 7622 0381 or email m.mcgowan@vacoventry.org.uk
