Government strips away regional structures
The Government has followed up its announcement to close Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) such as Advantage West Midlands (AWM) with an in principle decision to close regional offices such as Government Office West Midlands (GOWM), the final decision being due after the Comprehensive Spending Review in the autumn. GOWM has to date been the liaison point for negotiating the Local Area Agreement (LAA). The closure of the Government Office for London has already been announced.
