Get more young people on board
The quality and Governance project is working with vinvolved to facilitate more young people to get involved in governance work. It is a well known fact that very few trustees are below the age of 30 years and obviously there is a wealth of knowledge, ability, skills and energy within this group of people that's not finding its way to governing bodies!
We are therefore going to carry out some focused work over the next month with young volunteers to increase their knowledge around decision making opportunities in the Voluntary Community Sector (VCS) and specifically the role of a trustee.
We are holding an information/workshop event for frontline groups to showcase good practice into the recruitment and induction of young people onto boards on11th March 2010 so if you think your policies would benefit from an ‘age diversity' review then put this date in your diary NOW!
During the course of this event we will be joined by the young volunteers and we will partner up groups with volunteers to do some focused work to improve their trustee recruitment policies. The aim is to ensure that trustee vacancies are more appealing to young people who have the skills etc. that groups want and need. For more details see the promotional fyer here.
