Events The Volunteer Centre host and support many events throughout the year to make information on volunteering available and more accessible to you. Not only can you find out more information about volunteering at our events but you can also volunteer with us. Either way we hope to see you there! Voluntary Action Coventry are organising a Community Information Fair which takes place on Friday 15th June in Smithford Way, outside the Central Library. Stands are available for Volunteer Involving Organisations at a cost of £45 for the day. |

Tasters Want to volunteer but not sure what to expect? Why not come along to one of our taster sessions for a couple of hours and give it a go! We offer a range of volunteering tasters for you to get involved in. It’s a great way for you try lots of different things without committing and if you find something that you enjoy then we will support you in to finding a long term volunteering placement within that area. Volunteers Week 1st-7th June 2012 As part of Volunteer's Week this year we have arranged the opportunity for volunteers to take place in a choice of two themed ‘Taster' sessions as follows: Health and Social Care Taster Session All places have been filled. We may be running more taster sessions later on this year. Gardening Taster Session - 15 places available Places are available for up to 15 volunteers aged 16-25 to take part in a gardening taster session at Allesley Walled garden during Volunteers Week on Friday 1st June 2012 from 11-1. Activities include: Removing the old paths and replacing them with new ones. Volunteers will need to be able to do heavy, manual, outdoor work. For more information, or if you are interested in booking a place for any of these taster sessions, please contact Chris Clough at the Volunteer Centre on Tel: 024 76220381 (press 1 for the Volunteer Centre) or Local Events - requiring volunteers Palace to Palace Cycle Ride - Sunday 20th May 2012 Palace to Palace is the Prince's Trust largest mass participation fundraising event, where cyclists ride 45 miles raising funds to help change young lives. Following on from the amazing success of the flagship London event, 2012 will see the first Palace to Palace take place in West Midlands! The ride begins in the awe-inspiring grounds of 1000 year-old Warwick Castle, taking participants through the beautiful Warwick countryside, past Kenilworth Castle before returning back to Warwick Castle. By volunteering you will be a key part of the team helping to deliver such a fantastic event. Volunteer and you could be: Providing information for riders at Warwick Castle . Checking in riders at the start, and setting them off. Supporting and cheering on riders along the route. Awarding medals to the finishers. It promises to be a great day with a valuable cause, so please make a difference for the Prince's trust & become a volunteer! This event takes place on Sunday 20th May 2012 Walk of Warwickshire - Sunday 17th June 2012 Volunteer marshals are needed to help by encouraging walkers along the route. Some marshals may hand out water at key locations or cheer walkers on as they pass the finish line. Marshals will be along a marked route. We will look to match volunteers geographically to the closest venue to their homes. Marshals may be moved around the route. Volunteers need to be able to make their way to and from a pick up point in one of the 3 main areas (Warwick Race course, Abbey Fields, Kenilworth and University Square Coventry) Marshals will be taken to and from their location(s) by the Marshal managers who will be in place on the day. Activities include basic admin duties including helping with the monthly mail-out and putting together promotional packs. By attending these sessions you’ll gain an insight and experience in a range of admin duties. There is also the opportunity to become a more regular volunteer for Voluntary Action Coventry. The dates of the next available taster sessions will be available soon.
