Why are you needed?

Most of the people making decisions affecting women's lives are men. Despite changes in the last 30 years men and women in the UK still lead very different lives. Women earn less than men, are more likely to work part time, more likely to be carers (for children and adults) and more likely to be poor, particularly in old age.

Women's different life experiences mean that they have different needs, priorities and perspectives. If policy is made without women's voices being heard then it won't work for women.

What do Coventry Women's Voices do?
Provide a network for women's organisations, organisations working with women and individual women in Coventry to come together, talk, share ideas, and develop best practice.

Organisations that want to consult with women in Coventry are supported by promoting consultations through members and networks and supporting members to respond. Coventry Womens Voices provides expert advice and information about the actual and likely effect that policies and programmes will have on women.

Coventry Women's Voices are keen to talk to as many organisations providing services to women and women's organisations in Coventry as possible.  If you are able to talk to them about this, please send an email to coventrywomensvoices@gmail.com and someone in the team will contact you to discuss further.

Membership of Coventry Women's Voices is free and open to women from: women's groups and organisations; voluntary or community groups with a particular focus on women's issues or providing services to women; statutory services with a focus on services for women; business or business networks with an interest in improving the position of women; trade unions and individual women.
