Coventry Community Cohesion Awards 2012
Introduction and background
Coventry is a city proud of its heritage as a city of peace and reconciliation and the Coventry Partnership wants to continue to build upon the good community relations in our city. Coventry Community Cohesion Awards are designed to recognise what local people have done for Coventry to remain a cohesive City.
The Coventry Community Awards celebrate people and activities that have contributed to building cohesive communities and recognise the significant contributions they make towards cohesion in the city.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for ways in which you can practically demonstrate how you have achieved community cohesion. Community Cohesion is about communities living together and
• Having a shared future and sense of belonging
• Focusing on what new and existing communities have in common, alongside a recognition of the value of diversity
• Building strong and positive relationships between people from different backgrounds
This can be demonstrated by working with different communities, groups, faiths, age groups, and people from different backgrounds, ethnicity, and disabilities. It can also be demonstrated by bringing people from different backgrounds together to engage in meaningful activities, promoting diversity and fostering good relations, myth-busting, improving integration and challenging negative attitudes and intergenerational work.
This will also be an opportunity to share your achievement and success. Applications will be considered for projects and programmes that have been running in the past year.
