Council consulting on charges
Coventry City Council is consulting on proposals to change the way they assess (calculate) charges for non-residential adult social care services that support people to live at home. Two changes are proposed.
•1. Changes to the assessment of 'Disability Related Expenditure'
It is proposed that all users should be offered an individual assessment of their disability related expenditure. This will replace the existing process where a standard percentage allowance is made when calculating a user's assessed charge. The overall aim of the change is to undertake a fairer and more accurate assessment by taking into account a user's actual 'disability related' expenditure.
•2. Calculating user contributions to personal budgets
Some technical changes to the charging policy are also proposed in order to comply with national guidance on how to calculate an individual's contribution to their personal budget. The guidance requires that the Council determine the proportion of an individual's personal budget that will be subject to a user contribution.
