Community Based Champions provides a unique volunteering opportunity for Migrants and members of New Communities. The project aims to explore effective practices in helping Migrants and New Communities find their way to volunteering and careers in Coventry.

The project recognises that Migrants often find it difficult to approach services without the support of a trusted person from their own community. This project, taking a grass-root approach will recruit key individuals from different Migrant communities, train them to NVQ level 2 in advice and guidance so that they are fully equipped with enhanced knowledge of local services and understanding of legal rights and responsibilities to then address the needs of their community members.

Community Based Champions while responding to the needs of their community groups will also benefit from a range of other accredited and non-accredited training that in return will improve their confidence by playing an important role in the community and increase their chances of employment.
