Background

CEMAP was established in 2002 in partnership with Voluntary Action Coventry following two succesful consultation conferences held in the city. Since it's inception, Voluntary Action Coventry and CEMAP have been working in close partnerhsip. Over the years CEMAP has been able to successfully bring together Ethnic Minority Voluntary and Community groups and organisations from across the city.Providing a regular members' forum and other activities has enabled groups and organisations to come together to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern, network, share information, seek support, develop best practice and influence policy makers and service planning. CEMAP currently has a membership of over 150 and is still growing. CEMAP has developed strong partnerships at grass roots, including within the newly arrived communities, as well as within the established Black and Minority Ethnic communities of Coventry. Through successfully bringing together people, organisations and communities CEMAP has broken down barriers and developed community cohesion and integration between and amongst communities within Coventry.
